Fear the Darkness

A Poem

By Stel TsolakidesPublished 8 years ago 1 min read

It's where the killers wait to pounce,Bloodshot eyes with pinpoint stares,Flesh and blood and bone,It's where the monsters hide,Twisted maws and dripping fangs,Claws and talons and teeth,It's where nightmares come to life,The scary things from childhood,Screams and tears and pain,

I fear what’s inside me,The whispering in my mind,The dark side of me,I fear when things are quiet,When there are no distractions,Revealing secrets long buried,I fear the shadow passenger,Trying to take control,Promising things I shouldn’t want,

I fear the silence,I fear what it hides,I fear what will rise,I fear the solitude,I fear what it reveals,I fear what will remain,I fear the darkness,I fear what it releases,I fear what will not survive.
