Fear of failing
Of being alone
Fear of not having a kind voice inside, at all.
Fear of silence,
Of crawling things.
Fear of being stuck, being left to think.
Fear of capture,
Fear of heights.
In the night, I realise I fear flying.
Fear of cages,
Of clever traps.
Fear of not knowing the right way to act.
Fear of lies,
And fear of stones
Fear of fragility; of shattered masks.
Fear of anger
Fear of pain;
I fear I try to explain myself away.
Fear of loss
Of wandering too far,
Fear of hesitation
And fear of a broken heart.
Fear of guilt
Of staying too still.
Fear of bruises
And the damage my words deal.
Fear of loud noises
Of onlooking eyes
Fear that happiness is just a guise.
I fear crowds
I fear bright lights.
I fear that I'll never be "just right".
Fear of failure,
Of not being enough
Fear of losing my grip
And spiralling endlessly
I fear not noticing that there is always a way up.
