They like to keep you under the surface

They want good seats to see you squirm

To watch you fight for your existence

Under their feet like helpless worms

They promise to provide a little sunshine

But keep you waiting in the dark

At their call and on your dime

With enough air to get a spark

But then they fill in all the air holes

Watching as you strike your paper match

Until you surrender all control

Signing in blood on their contracts

Sealing your fate and their achievements

Your failure is their only goal

Scrounging to make minimum payments

But never escaping from the hole
