Faultless Behavior

Why me?

Helpless I float, within my glass bowl

I watch you, pacing, stalking, hunting

You lick your lips as you gaze at my scales

Your sleek soft tail flicks like my silk fins

Tough jaws, quick paws, gleaming claws,

Primed to pounce, to prey on my physique

You plan to hurt me, nothing I can do but wait

I want to blame you, fight you, hurt you back

But, it's not your fault in the end

You were taught to hunt, to feed on the weak

You are as blameless as I am

Yet, I still feel anger

You were taught, but I was the teaching

Why was I the one you were taught to hurt?

Why were you ever taught to hurt?

We're both victims here, in a way

But I still beg the question, why me?
