Fate

Angel, devil, dreamer, lover

Over there, over there, comes the whisper

your dream-land lies near

past the dragons in your sleep

past the victims of your hunting

You know where you’re going

They find your black heart bewitching

They say you’re dangerous

spider-fly-catch-die

Don’t say hi, don’t say boo

just walk right in

past them all

Are you so bad?

Oh yes, sweet revenge

it keeps the blood pumping

puts a smile on your face

as you throw up your hands,

guilt flying away

(the blackest raven past the purest moon)

You have an image, they say

live up to first impressions

phony notions, old conversations

Live long

for your soul is ocean-deep

and when you hate, it’s the tip of hell-fire

Strike the chord of remembrance

in their little minds

Scorch their conscience

You are angel, devil, dreamer, lover

and over there, whispers the wind,

is the tree of Fate

Nestle safely in its bough, black bird

until it is time to fly again
