Remember when I was me,
before you turned me into
somebody else, a character
in a narrative about something
mundane, tedious triflings elevated,
pedestrian relationships alchemized
until they appear celestial,
doing the laundry and washing the dishes
written in the stars,
the alignment of the planets,
a Jupiter trine, allowing you
to walk the damn dog
and mow the lawn.
The whole world in awe
of a dude washing a car
while his bride vacuums
the floor.
