Farewell to the Wayfaring Waffler

A poem.

your love to give

yours to define.

calling your bluff,

your lie was enough -

I sneer as I think of how

your fake smile beguiled me,

endeared your

heart to mine.

while you deceived me,

received my affection

then shared yours with another.

at first, thirst can

compel a man to

madly chase.

but understand,

gladly I embraced

the thought,

never to perish

I cherished your love,

not bought

but borrowed.

you left me in sorrow.

yesterday's gift

set adrift will

return to you tomorrow

unclaimed.

yearned for,

but not earned.

please, next time -

train your heart

to stay,

before pretending to

give it away.
