Famil Tree Of Family Gone

The family tree hangs heavy tonight

Names carved deeply in weathered stone

Each generation now turned to bone

Lost beyond reach and beyond sight

Old black and white faces stare at me

Eyes filled with stories nobody told

Hands once warm now forever cold

Drifting like smoke from a dying sea

Grandfathers buried beneath the rain

Grandmothers faded from fragile years

Leaving descendants drowning in tears

Carrying bloodlines wrapped up in pain

Children once cradled in tender arms

Now only memories brittle and thin

Time swallowing every trace of skin

Stealing forever from family charms

The photograph trembles inside my hands

Every smile becoming harder to bear

Ghosts gathering thick in the air

Standing beside me in silent lands

I wonder if they still speak my name

Beyond the darkness nobody sees

Floating somewhere through endless trees

Watching our lives through sorrow and flame

Their absence settles deep in my chest

An ache no prayer could ever erase

Still I search every faded face

Trying to give their spirits rest

Tonight the family tree bends low

Roots tangled tightly with love and grief

Life disappearing beyond belief

Leaving me missing the ones I know
