False Hope

The light that never learned to stay

By shaoor afridiPublished 9 months ago • 1 min read

Stanza 1

False hope knocks with a gentle sound,

Wearing promises softly crowned.

It paints tomorrow bright and wide,

While hiding the truth it keeps inside.

Stanza 2

It whispers, “Wait, the storm will bend,”

Pretending every break can mend.

Its words are warm, its touch is kind,

Yet leaves no shelter for the mind.

Stanza 3

We hold it close in darkest hours,

Believing in its borrowed powers.

But dawn reveals what night concealed—

A fragile dream that never healed.

Stanza 4

False hope smiles as the truth grows thin,

Teaching loss while dressed as win.

It feeds the heart on empty air,

Then vanishes when hope is bare.

Stanza 5

Still, from its ashes, wisdom grows:

To trust the pain that clearly shows.

For honest scars, though sharp and rough,

Can teach us how to be enough.
