Falling Light

Leaves

By Susan LoblawPublished 12 months ago • 1 min read

Rufescent amber and gold flamboyantly glows

Against an ashen sky and black trunks wet

As harvest pays the labourers debt

And natures signaling chilled wind blows

Clinging leaves turning from envious green to variegated shades

Only to let go, fall; delightfully unto a carpeted patchwork

Where tomorrow’s dreams will slumbering wait and lurk

Luring a poet’s heart to travel late the forested cascades

Hearing the whispered challenge setting an imagination ablaze

What could even compare to the visual assault of this trip

Leading your soul into a playful venture

Along the path through crunching maze

A heartbeat keeping time with a raindrop’s drip

Within a season to pack a lifetimes adventure.

I live in Bay Tree Alberta, which I don't think is even classified as a village. Just a gas station with a post office. For the moment, this is where I live, until I can go home again.
