falling into the dark.

tales from a hospital bed.

By kimberly carrierPublished 4 years ago • 1 min read

I opened my eyes, the hospital room coming into clear view.

I looked over at the nurse, but she didn't seem right. She turned toward me but,

but her face wasn't human.

It was like a dark circle of black static where her face should be, her features invisible beneath the dark.

She said in an oddly distorted voice,

"your pills, don't forget them."

and then I began falling.

the bottom of the bed fell out from under me and I clenched with all my might to the railings, but it was no use.

my frail and weakened fingers had begun to lose their grasp,

I tried to scream but no sound came from my gaping mouth.

Down, down, down I fell,

Arms failing and silent screams,

Eyes widening with madness.

There was no end to this, no ground in which I could fall into.

I just remember falling, and falling.

And falling.

I hadn't forgotten my pills.
