Fair Gazelle

A poem about a hunter and a deer.

By notnocturnePublished 2 years ago • 1 min read

I peer at my target in awe,

I check my mark over and over

Grasping my bow with practised composure,

I close my eyes, letting a slow exhale escape my lips

Through the breeze, my arrow slips,

Warm, gentle, curious eyes

Peaceful thoughts, shallow sighs,

Red escapes her velvet coat

Contrast to her slim white throat,

Her last breath was not one of pain or agony,

Rather,

Bliss

To be at peace.
