Failed Society

I was consumed by depression when I went for a walk, the walk was supposed to help. But I looked around me and words kept pouring out. I didn’t like what I saw, it didn’t make me happy. It didn’t look like a thriving society. But of course we all act like it is. 🌹Works I’ve read and loved by: Cathy (Christine Acheini) Ben-Ameh, Colleen Millsteed, Sandy Gillman, Tim Carmichael, Tanya Rosa Marie, Annie Kapur, Mike Singleton 💜 Mikeydred. In the order I’ve read them 🌹

I saw a shadow but I was not there,©️🎭

My heart beat went where nothing could be felt.

Straight face.©️🎭

Yet I stayed. ©️🎭

Leaves hurried along when the wind blew to get away.

I should've followed them and stepped off the deep end.

I smiled. ©️🎭

Debris

They came but

I wasn't blind to the freckled petals.

They weren't in the sun ray.©️🎭

A tear dropped.

Took the veil from my eyes.

Destruction within,

Everything became that which should've been burnt.

Wiped out, never to be done or said out loud.©️🎭

I yelled at the back of my throat but my mouth was shut.©️🎭

Yet these petals became law and we clothed ourselves,

So the unwell

Became the dead living in the great big

Expanding shell.©️🎭

I laughed and cheered.©️🎭

But the fact is a mirror

And I was never going to

Be made a friend.©️🎭

I held my hands up.

I closed the door to my soul.

Drifting through life

As if I were a cold ghost

On the wind.©️🎭

I dresed up in a fancy dress.

Every soul that comes by,

I let them cruise through me

Never to touch the core

Of what made me

Me.©️🎭

I smiled.

I kept swimming

As if I ever learnt how.

Breathing under a body of water so cold.

I could give in.©️🎭

Straight face.

But everything would bleed under my skin.

I would be a lesser beam hoping to succeed

At loving you.©️🎭

I held my hands up.

So the mask that I wear is a big smile on my face.

A thumbs up of praise.

While my own desire dies down in a big pot of stew.©️🎭

A tear dropped©️🎭

No house.

No kids.

I am not through.

I hate being on this cruise with you.©️🎭

I laughed and cheered.

I want to be your friend.

I don't want to be snoozed.

But if I opened up and I fell away, ©️🎭

And I settled in front of you.

Bare hands.

Weapons nowhere near.

I won't be as strapped you.©️🎭

I held my hands up.

©️🎭

So I stay in the back of the queue.

Shrunken.

Hiding in plain sight.

While my body decay and I say.

Hey it's good, it's okay! ©️🎭
