Fading

To leave and be forgotten

Tell me how to be away

Tell me how to get away

Tell me where to go from here

Tell that you'll be always near.

Explain to me how to flee

Explain how it is meant to be

Explain to me how to fly

Without separating you from I.

Teach me the proper way to go

Teach me as though you know

Teach me, please show

Me how to vanish

But stay side by side

Do not banish

Me from your memory.

I'm going now, far away. You'll not hear from me past today.

I'm going now, without delay. How I wish that you would say...

I'm going now, I'll fade away. Please, oh, please, ask me to stay.

Because in my heart hope burns bright, before I leave you this silent night, I'll leave behind a fervent wish, to hear your skirts behind me swish. I'll not wait for you in distant clearing, if you decide to come disappearing. But I'll tell you how it's done, how through cunning, my freedom I have won.

Take your first hesitant steps, the successful sneak is one who preps. Over your shoulder a coiled rope, is imperative for your hope, of sneaking over the castle wall, without hearing the sentry's call. There is a place, not far at all, down which you can let the rope safely fall.

Shimmy down that slender cord, at the bottom I have stored some necessities and one spare sword. Leave behind that of tremendous worth, for in the outlands there is a dearth, of merchants who would have the coin, or believe you did not purloin it from a wealth hearth.

Remember well the journey's we made long ago you and me. Remember well our favourite haunts, when we would take those merry jaunts through your father's countryside. Remember the places we did abide with utmost passion far from eyes that pried.

I'll not be waiting for you there, because I know here your life is fair. But if you follow, you'll learn where, I will be found no longer heir. If that's a life you could abide, living with me side by side, I've left you clues to guide your way. And hope to see you there one day.

And now the end.

I must now go.

And away the time does flow.

How I wish to stay and mend.

Foolish it seems away to throw

This life of velvet wrapped in woe

But I've a soul to which I must tend

To that end I will now show

Myself the door, still my leaving will be slow

Goodbye. Live well, my friend.
