Faculty Meetings Stink

(Quiet/Quite) Frankly

Yes, my eyes roll and I dare not sit next to my best friend

lest we both get into trouble by our silent sneers or expressions.

My thoughts run rampant and in my mind I have slapped faces

at least a dozen times during the first ten minutes at this table!

Seated are my peers in academia, but some believe their position

to be loftier than others, at which, I say loudly to myself, "Humph!"

So much wasted time of my life is listening to their voices tinkling

away at my last nerve..."Won't you please shut up???," I beg from my head.

No true service are we doing here for our students, I can tell you for sure.

Seems to me that we are just stirring a pile of manure embedded in egos.

Or is it a pile of over-inflated egos embedded in the stench of manure?

It's hard to tell, because I can no longer tell the difference. I hate meetings!

They truly reek/stink/gag/nauseate/sicken/disgust/incense my senses...

Even though I am now happily retired, those dreadful memories still horrify me. It helped to vent here!
