I gave my HEART away right there,
where loving you was forbidden.
I spent a LIFETIME standing still,
where even a moment was forbidden.
I kept returning to that SAME lonely street,
where showing up each day was forbidden.
I set my soul on FIRE with your name,
where even lighting a single lamp was forbidden.
I held on to the MEMORY of your face,
where remembering you was forbidden.
I stood TRAIL for loving too deeply,
where questioning you was forbidden.
I BROKE quietly, piece by piece, for you,
where breaking at all was forbidden.
I let my hands LINGER on empty spaces,
where touching the air you once filled was forbidden.
I traced YOUR absence in the corners of my mind,
where remembering the emptiness was forbidden.
I carried the WEIGHT of shattered dreams,
where piecing them together was forbidden.
I burned LETTERS I could never send,
where keeping them safe was forbidden.
I watched the embers of hope DIE alone,
where saving even a spark was forbidden.
I traced your SHADOW on cracked walls,
where chasing it was forbidden.
I let my TEARS fall on broken glass,
where mourning in full was forbidden.
I gave my heart away right there again,
where loving you was always forbidden.
