Ezekiel’s Signs

Ezekiel has been plucked out of his pages

and placed in London holding up signs.

Lying on a wrought iron bench Made in Sheffield,

British and about to be evaluated

by Antiques Roadshow.

God save the Britain!

Ezekiel lying on his right side before early election.

Under instructions and with London under siege,

he will only lunch on the little fish,

dragged out of the Thames after

the nation’s borders have been secured.

At Australia House, the meanness is simmering -

vegemite on hot shanks.

God save the king!

Ezekiel has had no reprieve since impromptu election,

forced to lie on his right side

well beyond his biblical allotment.

Under instructions and with winter approaching,

he makes a fire from the excrement

left behind by the hooded mob—

At Australia House, the Colonials will only drink Seppeltsfield Wines

imported direct from Down Under.

God save Europe!

About the Creator

Ange Auciello

Yes, another English teacher looking for literary redemption. Well, an ex-classroom chalky these days - strictly online. After a few published poems I'm seeking a platform where the publishing process is more dynamic, less time consuming.
