Don't Turn Around Challenge

The train rumbles to a halt

And the passengers all bolt

Out the doors on the right

And disgorge into the night.

And I’m in that babbling crowd

And they’re talking far too loud

But there’s a silence right behind me

Oh God, did he find me?

On my back I feel eyes burn

So with beating heart I turn

And I scan all of their faces

And my little heart, it races

And all I see are strangers,

But I still sense the danger.

We’re flowing down the stairs

While the PA system blares

And they all have no idea

Of my slowly rising fear.

Even though I’m in a crowd

I feel as lonely as a cloud

And there’s nothing I can say

Who’d believe me anyway?

“I feel his eyes upon my back

And I feel I’m being tracked.”

I know that it sounds crazy.

But my mind is turning hazy

And I’m running out of time

So I decide to sprint for mine.

I rush through the ticket gate

And my legs, they start to shake.

I live just ten minutes away

And I jog almost every day

So I’m sure I can outrun

Absolutely anyone.

But the streets are dark and quiet

And my heart, it's running riot

And my lungs, they are screaming

And the tears, they are streaming

And my legs can run no longer

God, I thought that I was stronger.

And I stop, against my will,

And I feel an icy chill…

I try my best to hurry

But my vision’s going blurry

And I sense I’m not alone

But I’m still so far home.

Does he know my address?

Was it just a wild guess?

Or did he see me on the train

And just follow me again?

Should I hide?

I can’t decide.

I feel his eyes and butterflies

In my stomach crystalize

Into cold. Hard. Fear.

Too late. He’s here.
