Lost in a forest

It had been two days since John and Sarah had set off to go camping in the woods. The sun had long set but they still hadn't made it to their destination. Lost in the thick forest, their paths had grown hopelessly tangled - each wrong turn led them farther and farther away from safety.

The night air was cool and wet, providing little comfort when their flashlights died. Sarah was starting to feel scared, her breath hitching in her throat, when a howl cut through the trees.

John grabbed her arm and tried to press on. He knew if they stopped, something terrible would catch up to them - but too late. A dark figure sprinted towards them, its eyes glowing red in the darkness. It was a figure of pure terror, a creature of nightmares.

John and Sarah screamed, and ran on. They stumbled through briars and fallen branches, but the howling creature just kept getting closer and closer. Suddenly, John felt something tug at his shirt. He spun around to see Sarah floating off the ground, her eyes wide with fear.

With a sickening realization, John knew this is what it wanted: a young boy and a young girl, lost in a deep forest. He looked up towards the sky and made a silent prayer, begging for their deliverance.

But it was too late. The creature had them both in its claws. And as John watched, a deep coldness filled his heart, for he knew they would never make it out of the woods alive.
