Eyes Hidden In The Darkness

You can’t see them yet they are there watching you.

Eyes Hidden In The Darkness

I feel them watching from the night
Beyond the edge of fading light
No footsteps heard, no voices near
Yet something follows every fear

The walls begin to breathe and sigh
As unseen figures wander by
The shadows stretch across the room
And fill the corners with their gloom

Two hidden eyes begin to glow
From places only nightmares know
They stare in darkness, cold and deep
They never rest, they never sleep

The candles flicker, flames grow thin
As something tries to enter in
A frozen whisper calls my name
Then disappears into the flame

The silence carries broken cries
From worlds that live behind our eyes
A secret door begins to form
Opening into endless storm

The darkness knows the things we hide
The fears we lock so deep inside
It keeps the memories we erase
And stores them in a hidden place

The eyes remain beyond the wall
Waiting for the night to fall
Watching every breath we take
Waiting for the dawn to break

So when you walk beneath the moon
And hear a distant haunting tune
Remember what the shadows see
May not be what you want to be.
