Exorcising the Past

…..

By Andrew C McDonaldPublished 2 years ago • Updated 2 years ago • 1 min read

Full of regret, pain

Housing restless spirits

My past is a poltergeist -

You, the exorcist

Sent to cast out my demons.

Sent to drown spirits of hate

In the warm waters of your affection;

Inter them in peaceful rest

Wrapped in a diaphanous shroud of love.

With you by my side

I can rise from the smoldering ashes

Of once burning resentment

And spark a new flame

A roaring bonfire of love

Driving back the darkness

That once filled my seething soul.
