Eternity

A Poem of Weary Longing

Sometimes, when the screaming of a million earthly orphans grows too great

I wish I could escape into the vast, cold arms of the universe

Lazily float through the darkness, the muted symphony of the stars scoring time

Endings and beginnings crumbling into dust like our gods, merciless and magnificent

Neatly shedding my mortality like the skin of the snake that tempted Mother

Couriered by the inexorable into unseen hands, feeling self give way to amnestic glory

Eaten leisurely, lovingly, by the black hole I’d hoped was waiting all this time
