Eternity’s Embrace

Living forever

By Fatima KhanPublished 3 years ago 1 min read

Isn't it scary if we live forever,

Never to feel the sweet release of death,

To watch as all we know and love wither,

While we continue on with bated breath?

Eternal life may seem like a gift,

A never-ending well of youth and joy,

But think of all the memories adrift,

Of those who've left us, our hearts to deploy.

To see the world change, and friends grow old,

To witness all the pain and suffering,

And yet to stay, unchanging, ever-bold,

A life without end, but what's the offering?

For though we may endure, we'll surely see,

The world as we knew it, no longer free,

And as we stand, a solitary tree,

We'll wonder if this gift was meant to be.
