Every belief in eternity pales
’Tis foolhardy for any living thing
Entertaining a tenet with details
Responding to fear with a foolish king
Never could a faith belong to a world
Insidiously bent on a swift end
Tenaciously holding on to words hurled
Yearning for the impossible to blend
Severed ties and murdered lives do not raise
Consciousness or empathy in spades
Leaving the planet’s balance all ablaze
Abiding by feelings instead of grades
In which known realm do we pretend to see
More truth that only science can set free
