Stuck in the dark

Sleepless nights

And sleepy days

Where I long to see your face

And hear your voice

Because even a ghost

Is better than living without you

Why live in the waking world

When all there are

Are memories of you?

Author’s Note: This poem is for my father, who has been going through a bout of depression since my mother died in July. I don’t know how to help him other than to be there for him, but as an outsider looking in, this poem is how I see how he is feeling right now.

sad poetry
