I dedicate this poem to the cis and the transgender, the child and the adult, the marginalized and the celebrated, the healthy and the sick, the rich and the poor, the lost and the found.
Most of all, I dedicate it to you and me.
Read it and find yourself somewhere within it.
Peace.
EQUALS
Date unknown-2016?
I'm the beautiful scarecrow,
watching the puppets dance on strings not their own.
I spread my arms in welcome...
or fear?
Bear with me, please,
if I intrude,
as I step down..to..
regale you in an interlude..of..
Pain!
Lots of..acres of..
Pain!
I turn skin inside out,
reach down deep..
To the visceral.
With my soul tightly gripped,
squirming like an eel as it shocks me!
Laid bare before me..
surrounds me!
I wallow in the emptiness of my hollow yearning,
For an explanation to appear..but..
There is none.
Therefore, accept that I am..
The Scarecrow!
And you are..
The Puppet!
Accept who we are..
dancing to music not of our making..
So together we shall share..
the equality of...
Pain!
