Epithets & Heroines

Words roll over my skin like raging waves.

Foaming at the mouth, as salt spills from their tongues in truth.

Siren voices calling to me through the rocky shores,

jagged, the corners cruelly spiral out for blood until I see you.

Your body amongst the rubble reaching out your pillowy hands,

holding out for my soul with the weight of life in your grasp.

Ignoring fatal injuries just to dream of what a chance could mean.

Eyes meeting once until I glance away

as your grip claws into my veins;

as the oceans continue to hurl their epithets at me in vain.
