Epiphenomenal

How do we live before we die?

Wake to fear, wake to bleed, wake to see and wake to hear

Sleep to lie, sleep to feel, sleep to heal and sleep to hide

All this living just to be epiphenomenal

Learn to know, learn to be, learn to free or learn to show

Seek to own, seek to lose, seek to woo or seek to sow

Choose to be or not to be epiphenomenal

Sink for depth, sink for hope, sink for rope and sink to death

Rise for need, rise for pain, rise for gain and rise to beat

Tip the rungs and they become epiphenomenal

Fight for more, fight for love, fight to shove and fight for war

Guard for pride, guard for praise, guard to raise and guard for time

At least you know you won’t be epiphenomenal
