Entrepreneurship, oh what a thrill,
To take an idea and make it real,
To carve a path that's never been,
And bring a dream to life within.
It's more than just a simple task,
For those who dare to don the mask,
Of leader, innovator, creator too,
To bring to life a world that's new.
To take a risk, to forge ahead,
To break away from what's been said,
And chart a course for all to see,
To build a legacy that's free.
The journey is not always smooth,
It takes persistence to find your groove,
To weather storms, to rise above,
And never lose the heart of love.
For in the end it's all about,
The impact that you leave without a doubt,
That you made a difference in this world,
And left it better than you found.
So here's to all the entrepreneurs,
The dreamers, doers, and the pioneers,
Who light the way for us to follow,
And bring to life a brighter tomorrow.

One Minute to Noon
“OK, guys!” I screech over the macaw-like chatter in my sophomore English class. My students are sharing mementos they accumulated during summer vacation. The assignment is to interview each other and write an expository essay about another student’s treasure: Misty’s coquina shells and sand dollars from Florida, Ruth’s two Navajo pottery mugs from New Mexico, Roxy’s perfume from Paris, Kevin’s chocolate from Hershey Pennsylvania, a picador’s sword from a bullfight in San Fermin Spain, where one of my favorite students, Manny Pérez, ran with the bulls at festival.
