A Poem

Leaves turn red, orange and brown.

Seasons change, we batten down.

Golden fields once laden with corn.

Now lay bare until a new spring dawn.

Fires keep us warm at night.

Bringing us a guiding light.

Storms are coming hot and fast.

Causing chaos, before they pass.

Soon I’ll need my winter coat.

A scarf to warm my sore throat.

Fall is in the air.

I can feel it everywhere.

My name is Lizzy. I’m a trauma survivor, a wife, a mom, a teacher, and an author.
