Enter If You Dare

It's coming.

There's a door that opens once a year

When the Summer finally lets go

It's a wooden door beneath the trees

And a new month waits below

Just step through the shine of the morning mist

Leaving the warmth of summer behind

Feel air that's cooler on your face

And a world that feels strangely kind

This is where the colors have begun to turn

Burnt with ambers and reds without feeling the flame

And where every leaf that's fallen is a kid's paradise

A secret place that is never the same

Venture deep into the heart of sweet October

Where costumed little monsters stroll the candy lane

The sweet smell of wood smoke rising toward the sky

All calmed down by the evening rain

Whistling winds begin to tell a story

That whispers eerily through the trees

And each branch reaches overhead

Shaking off their painted leaves

Dare to walk where afternoons soon give way to night

And the days grow shorter with each passing round of play

When the sun so early dips beneath the horizon

But it never seems to stay

Go further into this witching month

Passing the fields soon picked clean

Your whole world becomes a picture

To remember all that you have seen

Walk through that door if you dare

And see what in summer you never knew

Endings can be a wonderful thing

And they can be beautiful beginnings too
