We are the world’s record keepers

We are the keepers of the knowledge

In our rings

The world lives forever

Split us open and read the story of the world

Cut us down

Pulp our flesh

Stretch and dry it

Burn the rest

And scratch it with our carbon

And tell the tales of lives we can’t see
