Hello, I hope everyone is having a wonderful day. This is a poem that I wrote a few years back and posted to Medium. I recently discovered this platform and was hoping to have my work reach a greater number of people. I hope you will enjoy this poem and, as always, I am open to criticism. Thank you!
Written on 11/2/2023:
As my eyes make troubled work of all future and past provinces
Places of whim and woe
Places which I never presided over, but dreamt of in malicious benevolence
They grow tired, dead, hopeless and despairing…
I see them now…
The sky airy and full of the sun’s mighty
…Light…
Enough to lift
The clouds hung low and
…Thick…
Enough to stand on
And the Earth so fluff and
…Soft…
Enough to mold
And deepest yet, a molten, rended core so
…Strong…
Strong enough to mend
Angels floating, watchful and slow in grace,
Perhaps even slow enough to catch
And the devils and demons, spriggan with lies
Seem like the helpless babe of man, born to cry
And in this land of afflicted ephialtes a warped man was never seen
A hopeless man was made obscene
And tolerance is a policy less cold learn to use
Nay, cast this debtless dream aside
Where man is plagued by perfection
In a time when evil is crippled and shied
Awaken, see as it is and will always be
A worse place, a land of rids
A lightened sky means dryness
And heavy clouds mean rain
And the world is Siberian and sadistic and bloody-minded
And the core is as it should be
Incomplete
Where people walk in a myriad of ways
Where people walk in a myriad of directions
With a myriad of delusions
With a myriad of burdens
And inconsistencies
And fears
Remember that in this crag-toothed maw of actuality
This hopeless, hurtful realm where death is a given and meaning is amiss
A better portrait, story, and work is made
A contrasting suffering of beauty
In all the vivid shades provided to life
A thing whose elective gaze is shattered like tempered glass
Refracting light into a million shapes and salvations
