Enough Is Enough
In darkened rooms covered in yesterday’s smut,
Are memories unwanted tormenting and rough.
If not for times that surface that slaughters my soul,
Perhaps there would be more smiles, more control.
Many have asked in dimly lit rooms in the night’s late hours,
When is enough enough this collage, this life without flowers?
“But you must push forward,” the voices all shout,
Those who don’t walk this walk, those who don’t know doubt.
In those deep nights when assaulted by life’s responses,
One must ask when is enough enough and what beyond is.
Once more the tossing, the turning, the wakening in the night,
Leaving nothing but questions, where nothing seems right.
But one must pick up the burden the one no one else wants,
And stop reminiscing of the past, memories those that taunt.
But one’s spirit still yearns for what might have been,
And echoes the question when is this battle ever to end?
When can one stop turning the other cheek or is it a sin?
Having suffered beyond the limit to now it offends.
Be who you are and get on with your life one might say,
But until the answer comes we must remain until that day.
So, when is enough enough to allow us to stop,
Will the burden ever be lifted or will I forever sob.
It seems unfair and many would agree speaking off the cuff,
That some burdens are forever and enough is never enough.
