England, Oh My Ruined England

Life is not the same. England is not the same anymore.

England, oh my ruined England

I mourn the life I knew

I mourn my England, ruined

By the poison the government threw

Where cobbled lanes once whispered

Now silence fills the street

And truth is just a whisper

Trampled under greedy feet

Once proud, once bold, once blooming.

Now fractured, scarred, and cold

They sold our souls for power

And called it growing old

The children learn in shadows

The elders fade unheard

And history’s rewritten

With every twisted word

The cupboards bare in silence

As mothers skip their meals

They queue at food bank doorways

Trading pride for plastic seals

No gas, no light, no mercy

The cold bites through the bone

They warm their hands on hopelessness

And die inside alone

In shopfronts draped in silence

Where mannequins still shine

The homeless find their shelter

Their pillow—broken spine

But still I hold a flicker

Of what you used to be

Oh England, broken homeland,

Come back and bleed with me.
