Endless summer hot to the touch
Carefree afternoons cooled by a sea breeze
Heady aroma of wisteria
Fainting on the vine in the midday sun
Outside breathless, expectant, shimmering
Baking, endless skies pregnant with promise
Suddenly, leaves start to shiver, quiver
As ocean's cool hands caress everywhere
Silence, Nature's deep inhale so refreshed
Bird song, laughter, tinkle of glasses raised
As we sip ice-cold Mojitos, minty
After our day at the beach, tanned, sand still
Between our toes and hair smelling of salt
Collapsing into stripy deckchairs, wet
Dogs at our feet, fireball sinking, one final
Blaze slashing across the Heavens, blood orange.
