Cricket song still fills the air,

as the warm wind switches to

a cool bite in the evenings.

Dead leaves crunch under foot

from last Fall, waiting for the next

layer of color to drop.

The lake water is too cold for

swimming and the suits and

towels are put away for the

next summer.

A strange limbo of sorts forms,

not cold, but chilly nights create the

tone for Autumn.

The breeze whispers of what is to come.
