A Quick Installment of How I Felt About Moving 500 Miles at 16

By Teya HooperPublished 8 years ago 1 min read

The empty rooms stare back with fire

A stare so vacant, but it jolts the memory

Sends me spiraling into the mystery

Mystery of my past, thoughts that pursed my lips

Wishing someone could have helped, gave me some tips.

Now I stare back, with an icy tear in my eye

Knowing the past is gone, got to spread my wings and fly

I cringe at the thought, knowing things will be different

Different wings. Different place. Different commitment.

I didn’t have much hope at first, leaving things behind.

But my heart crushed despair, opening my eyes

“Change is for the best” I’d tell myself, voice quiet and shy

No more keeping to myself, keeping my eyes to the floor

It’s time to spread my wings wide and soar.
