I hide behind the “I,” sheltered, hidden from what might—
Truth masquerading behind “I” to avoid the light.
Not that I haven’t caught glimpses of the sun—
But “I” shield me, protect me, to evade everyone.
I know I can write stories, to help others heal—
But “I” come in with cloak in hand, trying only to shield.
To shield against the “other,” who may try to bring me harm—
Protection against another, but what cause for the alarm?
I wonder what might happen if my story would bleed out—
Into awareness of the “other,” if they knew what I was about.
Would they attack the inner, higher me—should I have need to yield?
I wonder on, I wander on—my Truth won’t be concealed.
