Eggs, meat and, shell,

All harvested to sell,

They come ashore to start anew,

Only to be met with our morals, askew.

-

Metals and paper somehow pays,

For a life taken from the bays,

The unfairness of the tales,

Won’t compete with the sales.

-

Those who do hatch into the light,

Are met with a confusing world; too bright,

They cannot find the sea and go to the roads,

The cars’ deadly tire forbodes.

-

The lucky few who feel the water caress,

Deserve to be helped to success,

Fifty years or more to cherish,

Turtles don’t deserve to perish.

TWW, this was such a sad but inspiring poem! A great reminder to that it's job to protect these beautiful creatures, not profit off them. The lines "Metals and paper somehow pays, For a life taken from the bays," took me a second to absorb but then it hit to hard when I got it. (Not a you thing, it's a me thing. I'm not great at interpreting poetry.. like notoriously bad.) I love your vocabulary choices and vivid imagery you that you placed so seamlessly within each verse. It makes the message behind the poem so much more powerful as this was also a great reminder to value you life not profit. 💜
