Eggplant Elephant

Poetry Book Excerpt: Animals Galore

There's an elephant who likes eggplant

oh, he loves it so

he plants it, and waters it,

and eats it really slow.

An eggplant that grows

quite purple and plump

that vines like an ivy

and pleases an elephant.

Eggplant in a pan is

the greatest you see

loved by an elephant

who wants an eggplant tree.

The elephant, he likes it

with cheese and sauce

a favorite food,

eggplant is the boss!

Just growing his eggplant

hardy in the sun,

growing this vegetable,

this elephant has fun.

Eggplant is not a sweet potato

a legume or a beet

it doesn't have thorns,

sideburns or feet!

An eggplant is an Aubergine

and doesn't look like lasagna

but can be cut just so

and made into parmigana.

An elephant who cooks eggplant

and tends it every day

if you saw the Eggplant Elephant,

what would you say?
