Stolen Spotlight

I was the king of the world

For all of three days

And everyone forgot me within two

But it was such an excellent reign

Seizing the ground like a barbarian

While everyone gazed in awe

Even cheering me on

//

But no one remembers the king in my head

Who still vibrates from when I shook the ground

But the Earth returned to normal after the third day

Now there’s nothing keeping the crown on my head

Not even if I do the same moves again

The Earth anticipates the usurping king

Who isn’t ready to return

To a body that isn’t his

//

The king was beaming

For all of three days

Now the barbarian monarch must go back into custody

Of colors that flicker when turned off

On and off

For a king who falls to sensory conflict

Taken by the angels

Who drill into his heart

With righteous revolving claws

Until light passes right through

For everyone to see

But no one notices

Or even remembers
