An Acrostic Poem

Eyes agape I wait and watch, as the awesome darkness falls

Casting blackness far and wide, it's bleak penumbra sprawls

Light deserts us all below, for the shortest, longest spell

Intrigue morphs to terror, as this realisation swells

Paltry, pointless, trivial, how irrelevant am I? A speck of an iota

in this vast, galactic sky

Standing, rooted to the spot, my apprehension starts to wane,

as the yellow fire in the sky

makes its presence felt again

Eyes aglow, the light breaks through as the sun appears to say,

that each iota plays a part

in this cosmic, Milky Way
