Echoic Memories

Echoes of Summer

Tempo of the swing

Crickets chirp cicadas sing

Of a simpler time

-Verdant Butterfly

Quiet summer nights are echoic with old magic, when fireflies lit the hedgerows and every shadow beneath the trees might have hidden a fairy path.

The porch swing creaks beneath the moon,
while summer settles slow,
and fairies kindle in the hedge
like sparks from long ago.

They stir the scent of elderflower,
old songs, a garden gate,
and every little gleam recalls
a summer lying late.

So softly swing beneath the stars,
where fairy lanterns roam,
for some old memories cross the years
to find their way back home.
