Echoes of the Battlefield

A Lament for Ukraine and Russia

By Nashawn ManzanoPublished 6 days ago 1 min read

In fields where sunflowers once did sway,

Now echoes of a war-torn day.

Ukraine and Russia clash and bleed,

A sorrowful tale of power and greed.

The rivers run with tears and pain,

As hope and freedom fight in vain.

Homes turned to ruins, lives to dust,

A dream of peace begins to rust.

Children's laughter, now a distant song,

In shadows of a war so wrong.

Mothers weep and fathers fall,

In the silence of a midnight call.

Yet in the darkness, sparks of light,

Brave hearts stand tall, prepared to fight.

For homeland, for truth, they rise anew,

In fields where once the wildflowers grew.

Whispers of peace through shattered skies,

A prayer, a plea, as the world cries.

May strength and love bridge this divide,

And heal the wounds where hope resides.

As echoes of the battlefield fade,

Let memories of the lost invade.

In unity, rebuild, restore,

A future where the cannons roar no more.
