The two of us are physically separated by space and time

And even though I hate to admit it, you’re still on my mind

The deep wounds you caused will never be forgotten or forgiven

The balance of power was always extremely uneven

But I would be lying if I said the good times never entered my mind

Sometimes they almost make me forget that you were very unkind

Flashes of happiness dance through my dreams

They’re like the ghosts you see on movie screens

They’re there, but not always clearly seen.

Sometimes I don’t know whether to laugh or scream

Don’t get your ego inflated, it isn’t a common occurrence

Only echoes of memories running through my mind like a current

Sparked by the way someone laughs, or reminds me of your smile

It takes me back to better times for a while

But then reality interrupts and reminds me of the end

The way you lied, the way you would pretend

Still, I think I will always entertain our ghosts

Soft echoes of the moments I miss most

heartbreaksad poetry
