Earth Mandala by Susan Barzacchini

EARTH MANDALA

She sketched the shape

Of her mandala with a

Pencil dipped in soil.

In the center, she floated

A vibrant red lotus,

Energy flower, life flower.

She scooped blue water

From a stream to

Sustain the lotus,

Surrounded this

With a circular field

Of green vines, growing

Toward the outside ring,

Where yellow suns shined

Warm, healing light.

This world, created on paper,

Invites me into its peace

I accept.

This poem is inspired by an earth mandala created by Susan Barzacchini, a talented jewelry artist and visual artist and my wife. I love the world she created and wanted to honor it and her work with this poem.
