Earth Day is for Corporations

Celebrate Her Every Day

Let's face it,

Earth Day is for Corporations.

Today, I brace myself as email

after email,

after email,

after email,

after email

spam my inbox with

"Earth Day Bogo Deals!",

"Every Order Plants a Tree!",

"Celebrate Earth Day with 30% Off!"

And it becomes rather apparent,

Earth Day is for Corporations.

Because after today,

who cares!

It's the same with International Women's Day & Month,

Pride Month,

Black History Month,

Asian American & Pacific Islander Heritage Month,

all an excuse

for a million-dollar corporation

to throw out deals

and a plethora of advertisements

as acknowledgment,

then go on their way.

After today, they don't care.

Celebrate our Earth,

our planet,

celebrate her every day.

This Earth is all we have,

it's our home

amongst other life

that use her forests,

oceans,

deserts,

as their home as well.

And as interesting as it is,

nature can adapt,

nature has only adapted time after time.

And we're still changing it.

So dramatically,

so horrendously.

But nature, our Earth,

is adapting.

It's these changes,

these adaptations,

they're killing us.

Warmer climates,

increased forest fires,

increased inclement weather

bottle-necked water supplies,

tainted water supplies!

That's all us,

forcing her to adapt.

Don't give this day to Corporations.

Don't let them throw 50% off at you,

and allow them to call it a day,

to wipe their hands of their due diligence.

Celebrate our Earth every day.

She deserves our love,

our positive attention

our dedication to improving,

year round.
