Archaic newness spewed from 2032

Broken and misshapen, as

Chaos induced wantonness ruled the day and

Darkness brought unknown terrors in the night

Exsanguination then became our vampiric ill-fated lot

Fear induced lethargy kept us cowering, as

Ghostly shadows permeated our nightmares and

Howling beastlike sounds echoed from deep within the new ages

Insidious, cunning and deceitful are the lost newly coined 'leaders'

Justice now a jungle wrapped in diluted Freudian promises

Knowledge was bartered for the clothes upon our backs

Largesse and generosity a price paid with our souls

Machiavellian, cunning, scheming, and unscrupulous

Neanderthal thoughts reigned rampant upon the unsuspecting

Obsessive fear guarded our thoughts, guarded those close to you

Power hungry tricksters offered you as sacrifice to satisfy their bloodlust

Quixotic vile vampires lurked in dark crevices, they came in many flavors

Ruminating memories of better days brought acrid tears and awful fear

Satiety came in fitful bursts of jagged sleep and evil lurked in every heart

Thankful! The word curdled in your throat, thankful for rot, nevermore

Under every vile breath was a thief; watching, scheming, conniving

Vainly we aspired for the end of a nightmare wrought solely by ourselves

When did it all go to hell, where were those elected to protect

Xi: a river floods our souls, offering sweet death from the constant

Yearning for protection, for safety, as we retreat into our evolution

Zygotic! fertilized ovum , egg , Embryo Fetus, A beginning? Not in 2033!

This is bonkers! 😳 & creative. I’ve not seen the challenge by R.P yet but this is one year I don’t want to experience! πŸ˜… Excellent abecedarian poem - which gives us a disturbing insight into this time and place. πŸ˜ŠπŸ‘ We can only hope our 2033 will be brighter.

Great!! And two challenges covered. Even better!πŸ˜ŠπŸ’•β€οΈ

  • The lines of this poem were so intense intricate and good! I hope you win

  • Whoaaaa, soooo dark and intense! Unfortunately, this is highly potential to be our future! Loved your poem!

  • And to think, we choose this path, electing our leaders & yielding to the current zeitgeist as the path of least resistance where any resistance is deemed futile.

Writing to two prompts is very difficult and you made it look effortless. I especially love this line. β€œJustice now a jungle wrapped in diluted Freudian promises” Wow. I’m going to reread this a few times. It’s packed with so much and it’s incredibly likely.

  • This was great, so many good words!

Damn, girl! You nailed this. "When did it all go to hell, where were those elected to protect." Unfortunately, they only protect themselves.

    I loved reading this!

  • Oh, you are clever. Two for one! Also, I love the artwork. It is perfectly dystopian. "a river floods our souls, offering sweet death from the constant | Yearning for protection, for safety, as we retreat into our evolution." Wow! That is amazing! Nicely done, Novel!

  • This is where you excel Novel. Very well done!!!
