Drunk Dreams

Dreams

By Abigail RutherfordPublished 9 years ago • 1 min read

Drunk dreams keep fucking with me

No longer holding on to sobriety

Can't decipher what's real and what's not

Goddamn bring me back to reality

Mouth always craving a drink to sway this heart breaking pain numbing me

Bottles surround me

swallowing me whole

Drowning me in these dark dreams

I don't even know what they mean

My body is screaming for me to wake up and see what's in front of me

But life is so unclear

and being sober hurts

being awake aches

My eyes drown in tears

filling me full of fear

Drunken dreams

Keeping me from thinking clear

performance poetry

About the Creator

Abigail Rutherford

Through a dark time in my life I was barley hanging on by a thread, I had no escape from the dark thoughts that lingered in my head till a friend once said why don't you write and maybe you will just find a way to deal with all the darkness
